Let me share Donna & Barrys Quirky wedding at As You Like It in Jesmond, Newcastle.
I first met Barry when he was best man at his brother Stus wedding (which I photographed), and I first met Stu at his friends wedding – Rich and Rachael (which I photographed). I also photographed Richs sisters wedding too…and so you get the picture!! I feel like I know them so well I’m starting to feel like a guest at their weddings 🙂 but thats all down to them….from day one they have welcomed me into their big days and I feel privileged to know these guys because they really are such a down to earth, genuine group of friends who I’ve loved getting to know over the years.
So…back to Donna & Barrys day, I’m not sure how else to describe it other than just ‘Fierce’ (In a good way, actually in a great way!)
Donna was by far the most dramatic bride I’ve photographed – she has a strong and striking look which the camera just loves and Barry compliments her so well…he’s a rugby player and well he just looks super strong too 🙂
Donna chose a Mori Lee designer Wedding dress which was amazing and she teamed this with a striking headpiece and Kurt Geiger shoes with an elegant fur stole to keep away the chill as we went outside for some portraits of the two of them.
The skull design cake was out of this world and by far the coolest wedding cake I’ve came across to date…a huge shout out to The Cake Garden, the design and attention to detail was second to none and I hear it tasted amazing too!
The whole day had a real ‘family affair’ feel to it, the couples little boy held his mums hand as she walked down the aisle and tightly held on to her as she saw Barry for the first time waiting for her – A nice moment which I’m sure will be fondly remembered in years to come.
