Lifestyle Information

Unlike portrait or studio photography, Lifestyle photography is a more natural and less controlled photographic experience, the photos “althoughlike wedding photography some of the shoot will be staged or posed to a degree”, are made to look more “Natural” however, a lot of the best photographs are taken when the subjects go with the flow and forget all about the camera, which is much easier when not within the confines of a studio.
The locations can be wide and varied and depending on the client’s preferences, ranging from the kids thrashing around the autumn leaves in a local park to splashing in shallows of the beach.
It has its advantages too, an outdoor lifestyle shoot has the limitations of your imagination, backgrounds and props are found in everyday places and make fantastic photographs and moving far away from the traditional high street studio photography

The Shoot

Everyone is different and I try to keep every client’s pictures bespoke and spontaneous, that way, every shoot is unique. Although (location permitting) I will have a general idea of the photo’s I would like to capture within the chosen location, I much prefer to work together with the parents/models on the day as they will have opinions and requirements as to what it is they want and I encourage their input.

Sessions typically last between 60 to 120 minutes, they are suitable for any age or occasion and can be given as a gift in the way of a voucher (must be used within 6 months). Session to be paid at the time of booking to confirm your diary allocation.

The session fee includes the time and expertise of the photographer, your online proofs, digital darkroom editing and one mounted 10x8 print. Travel to a location within South Shields, Sunderland & South Tyneside. For other areas please contact David.

Clothing Tips for kids

It’s a good idea to take a change of clothes for the child to get a wide range of photographs.
Bright colours are always good and colours that compliment the background

Choose clothes the child feels comfortable in.

Depending on the environment, children’s clothes can become dirty;
(Bear this in mind when dressing your child for the shoot and when choosing a location for the lifestyle photography).

You might want to bring any props or toys to include in the picture.
(Something to get your child’s attention for those ”I’m not playing moments”).

Hats, scarves & woolly jumpers etc… all look good in photographs, it’s also important for your child to be warm.
(Blue skin and runny noses won’t look too good in a photo).

Clothing with texture will add detail and emphasis to the picture.

Take the some refreshments, just in case the shoot runs a little longer than anticipated

Above all, smile be happy it’s all about having fun and making it a memorable and enjoyable experience,

The photos should reflect the real emotion and essence of the day.
I may even ask you to stand behind me to get child’s attention or to help make them laugh.
